Identity: In Fall 2015 I noticed a significant shift in my work. I had spent years honing my ability to draw and paint gesturally, wanting the expressive forms to be a reflection of my emotional and intellectual experience and a medium for channeling the emotions, ideas, and times I live in. In Fall 2015 my time and place was filled with political upheaval, extremism, rapid technological advancement and cultural change. It struck me that I was getting to live through perhaps one of the most amazing and terrifying times in human history and I had to capture the essence. I was (and am) deeply affected and motivated by what I observe in the socio-political times we are living in and this work is an honest expression of my emotional, intellectual, and spiritual experience in this time and space.
