LIVE Art When I moved to San Diego in summer 2008 I was hungry to be a part of the arts community. I had spent the prior eight years pursuing my doctorate in Clinical Psychology and, though I had been exploring my art throughout that time, I never had the time or opportunity to be a part of an arts community. So in Fall 2008 I began painting live at art and entertainment events in San Diego (I was doing my doctoral residency at the University of San Diego during this time).
I painted live because I was hungry to be a part of the arts culture and because I had been learning about, and teaching, mindfulness practice with my clients...it struck me that the process of painting live was a great opportunity to practice and see what would come out under these pressured and unusual circumstances. The work below represents some of the 'live' work I have done and spans from Fall 2008 to present.
